The Festival of Sail is coming to Coos Bay/North Bend soon (June 1-4). In celebration, I created some art in honor of one of my favorite tall ships that visits the area: The Lady Washington.
The weather was perfect for an evening stroll down to the Coos Bay docks when the Lady Washington and Hawaiian Chieftain were in port. The bay was smooth as glass and just beautiful. I grabbed a shot of the bow of the Lady Washington with two people on a small sailboat on the bay and painted the scene later in the year.
A panorama of the Lady Washington, based on a picture I took a few years ago, is available at local outlets on a greeting card.
I used the same picture and my imagination to create “A Whimsical Voyage,” on pages from a condensed version of Moby Dick.
